Ontario Romantic Getaways

Everyone has a different definition of a romantic getaway. For me it usually involves good food, good wine, a hot tub, and of course good company. It may include walks along a near by beach or trail or seeing a performance in Toronto. The main thing is to find a place that will allow you to relax and appreciate the other person, in a way that we seldom do with our busy lives. Rediscover common interests and share that experience.

Stratford. A lovely spot to take in a festival production after a picnic beside the river. Stratford has many hotel and bed and breakfasts for accommodation.

Toronto. There are a hundreds of places to find and enjoy in Toronto. I will touch on a few under City Lights. In Toronto you will find amazing restaurants, theater performances, the finest accommodation. Obviously too many things to list here.

Niagara on the Lake. An easy drive from the Golden Horse Shoe. This quaint village has boosted its tourist areas tremendously over the past few years. Book a B&B and take a wine making tour, or in the fall tour the many craft shows in the surrounding area.

Gananoque. Romance could be found when you book a tour of the thousand islands. This area of Ontario has a great deal of history associated with it.

Ottawa.What could be more romantic than a tour of the parliament buildings? Well maybe for some, but Ottawa boasts some of the best dining in Ontario as well as skating on the Rideau Canal.

Deerhurst Inn, Haliburton. Luxury in the near north. Magnificent in the fall colours.

Waterview Resort. The Waterview Resort is located in Wiarton. My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at the resort in October. It has a beautiful view of the bay, and the grounds go all the way down to the beach. The resort is in a midway location for many tourist excursions. Sauble beach is just 20 minutes away. Diving at Tobermory is not far, and it is a short drive to Owen Sound if you need a city trip.

The room was clean and out fitted with a Jacuzzi built for two. Queen or King beds are available and many of the rooms had a private barbeque on the deck. The pool was still open although in October I had not thought to bring a swim suit. It looked inviting! Each room has an excellent veiw of the bay. Waterview also offers dining and banquet facilities. There was a wedding there when we stayed so we just peaked in but it looked like an excellent facility for up to 100 people. Waterview Resort provided a comfortable relaxing romantic weekend away.
